Sudan: The Secretary -General is concerned about the announcement of a political charter to establish a ruling authority in areas subject to rapid support

Secretary -General Antonio Guterres – in a statement attributed to his spokesman – warned that this additional escalation in the conflict in Sudan increases the country’s fragmentation and risks deepening the crisis.

Guterres said that the preservation of the unity, sovereignty of Sudan and the integrity of its lands remains a key to achieving a sustainable solution to the long -term conflict and stability of the country and the entire region.

The Secretary -General also condemned the continuous violence committed by both conflict parties against civilians across Sudan, including ethnic motivated attacks, noting that Sudanese women, children and men are paying a heavy price for the ongoing military attacks by the warrior.

The Secretary -General explained that his personal envoy to Sudan, Ramtan Lamamra, continues his involvement with the warring parties and all other stakeholders concerned to achieve progress on stopping hostilities, protecting civilians, arriving in humanitarian aid and enhancing stopping the escalation.
