The “Persian shrub” is one of the wild plants that were spreading on large areas of Hammad in the northern border, and is classified as one of the most prominent pastoral plants on which wildlife and livestocks depend.
However, this shrub was at risk of extinction in the 1990s due to the overgrazing, leading to its complete disappearance from the environmental scene for decades.
A member of the Environmental Aman Association, Adnan Al -Ramdoun, revealed the emergence of some of the Persian shrubs again in rugged places that are difficult to reach, which is a positive indication of its ability to restore their presence in nature.
He added that hope is great in the return of this plant to its previous spread, especially after the strict environmental decisions that came within the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, which aims to protect the vegetation and preserve the environmental diversity in the Kingdom.

Natural pasture sustainability

The “Penis” is an essential pastoral plant for wild animals and livestock, as it provides a rich food source, and contributes to stabilizing the soil and preventing erosion, which helps in the sustainability of natural pastures, reflects the richness of environmental diversity in the Kingdom, which makes it part of the natural heritage of the region.
The concerned authorities are making efforts to strengthen natural pasture rehabilitation programs and combat overflowing, which increases the chances of restoring the Persian plant to its environmental position.

It is expected that the national efforts to protect the environment will contribute to the return of this plant wider in the coming years, which enhances environmental sustainability and restores balance to natural systems in the northern borders.
