The United Nations suspends its food aid in a refugee camp in Sudan

The United Nations World Food Program announced on Wednesday that it had to suspend its operations in the Zamzam camp for the displaced and its surroundings in North Darfur, Sudan, due to the escalation of violence.
“The violent fighting in the Zamzam camp in the North Darfur region in Sudan, forcing the World Food Program to temporarily stop distributing life -saving foods and food aid in the camp of the displaced, which suffers from starvation,” the Rome -based UN Agency said in a statement.

She added that “over the past two weeks has not left the escalation of violence to the World Food Program partners, any option other than evacuating employees for their safety.”
