المملكة: With the production of 270 thousand tons .. “the environment” confirms the Kingdom’s satisfaction with red meat

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture revealed that the Kingdom records a noticeable abundance in the production of red meat, as production is more than (270) thousand tons during 2023 m, which contributes greatly to supporting local production and enhancing food security in the Kingdom, in line with the targets of vision.

The ministry explained during its campaign, which it launched in conjunction with the holy month, under the title “Our trip from our land”, that the Kingdom has achieved a self -sufficiency in red meat of (61%); This reflects the ongoing efforts to increase local production and reduce dependence on imports.
She explained that this abundance comes as a result of the development of the livestock sector, the support of local educators, and the adoption of the latest technologies in animal production, which enhances the Kingdom’s ability to meet the needs of the local market during the current month of Ramadan.

Livestock

She added that the livestock sector is one of the main pillars in strengthening local markets and achieving food security, as the Kingdom includes more than (20.6) million heads of sheep, and more than (7.4) million goats, in addition to approximately (502) thousand heads of cows, and the number of camel heads is more than (2.2) million heads; This animal diversity contributes to enhancing the productive capacity of the sector; It ensures the continuity of meeting the needs of the local market.
It is reported that the campaign; It aims to enhance awareness of the importance of consuming local products and support farmers and producers, indicating that the campaign contributes to raising the quality of food products and increasing the rate of self -sufficiency, in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030, in achieving sustainable development and enhancing the national economy.
