Prime Minister Eddie Rama referred to the ban for the first time months ago, after a confrontation that began on social media killed a 14 -year -old student and another wound to Arak near a school in the capital, Tirana.
The incident sparked controversy in the country between parents, psychologists and educational institutions on the impact of social networks on young people.
In a message published Thursday, Rama said that the talks with Tek Tok are ongoing after consultations with thousands of children and teachers.

“We have started a very positive dialogue with Tek Tok, which will soon send representatives to Albania to present a series of measures aimed at enhancing the safety of children,” he added.
The widespread global success of the Tech Tuk application in part is based on the attractiveness of “challenges”, which are interactive contents in which users create videos displaying dances or games that sometimes spread widely on the platform.
Likewise, neighboring countries such as Kosovo, Northern Macedonia and Serbia reported that the platform showed a negative impact, especially on young users.
