Quick forest fires broke out yesterday, Saturday, in a large area of ​​Long Island, New York, where the strong winds helped spread, which led to the escalation of thick gray smoke in the sky, the evacuation of a military base, and the closure of a major highway.
State Government Cathy Hochol said that government agencies are working to contain fires in the “Payne Barines” area, a wooded area that includes residential towns east of New York City.

In a statement, Hochol confirmed that the National Guard provides support through helicopters and operates in coordination with local law enforcement forces.

She added: “The safety of citizens is my maximum priority, and I am committed to doing everything possible to maintain the security of Long Island residents.”
