المملكة: With the production of 621 thousand tons .. Potatoes are a sustainable food choice for Ramadan tables in the Kingdom

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture announced that the annual production of potatoes in the Kingdom continues to establish its position as one of the basic food products in the Kingdom.
The local production for the year 2023 m amounted to (621,751) tons, showing the abundance of national production and its ability to meet the needs of the local market.
During its campaign “Our trip from our land”, the ministry explained that the Kingdom has achieved a self -sufficiency of potatoes of (87%), which embodies the quality of local production and its efficiency in meeting the local demand and reducing dependence on import, in line with the targets of food security in the Kingdom.

Support national products

In conjunction with the blessed month of Ramadan, the Ministry called on consumers to support national products, noting that potatoes are a sustainable nutritional option for Ramadan tables, because of their high nutritional value that suit breakfast and suhoor meals, in addition to their role in achieving food balance during the holy month.
She indicated that the strengthening of local production of potatoes and other agricultural products comes within the Kingdom’s strategy to achieve agricultural sustainability, reduce food loss, and raise the efficiency of consumption, in line with the targets of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision, in achieving food security and self -sufficiency of strategic agricultural products.
