An economic surprise .. an Arab country that has 162 tons of gold

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Al -Alaq, said that Iraq has one of the highest gold reserves at the level of Arab countries by 162 tons.
Al -Alaq added that the Central Bank of Iraq is constantly following the movement of gold and currencies, noting that “part of the diversification to ward off any risks is to own a percentage of gold reserves, especially in recent years, there have been continuous purchases.”
He continued: “Iraq today has 162 tons of gold, and it is one of the highest reserves at the Arab level, and we are the fourth country in the size of the reserves that we have of gold,” according to the Iraqi News Agency, “conscious.”
The Central Bank of Iraq announced, earlier, that gold reserves registered 45.1% during the last quarter of last year.
The bank said that its gold reserves recorded 45.1% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the same quarter from 2023, as it increased from 12.29 trillion dinars to 17.83 trillion dinars as a result of the high amount and prices of gold.
