Schools facing the dispersion of students with “external boxes” to reserve their phones

Government schools, in separate areas of the various emirates of the country, have created special funds in the school’s external scene, to reserve the smart phones of students, before entering the school building, with the aim of increasing their focus and preventing their dispersion, and confirmed that they are not responsible for the loss or damage of any mobile phone that is placed in these boxes.

School departments said, in a circular for students and their families, “Emirates Today” briefed on its details: “The application of the external funds system started from Tuesday, March 11, based on the approved policy regarding the prevention of bringing smartphones to students to the school campus and leaving them at home, in a new step towards enhancing the educational environment and discipline within schools.”

The departments stressed in their circulation that any phone that is inserted into the school will be confiscated in contrast to the instructions, in the context of the strict measures taken to ensure commitment to the decision.

She added: “This procedure comes in the context of school efforts to reduce the dispersal caused by smart devices, and to enhance students’ focus on the educational process and direct interaction with their colleagues and teachers, in a way that contributes to improving academic performance and behavioral discipline within the classroom.”

Schools emphasized that this decision aims primarily to create a more productive educational environment, and called on students and parents to cooperate to ensure the success of its application and achieve its desired goals.

On the other hand, “Emirates Today” monitored different reactions to students and their families about this decision, as some saw that it limits distractions inside the school, while others expressed their concern about the interruption of communication with their children during the school day.

The educational, Faten Saeed, stressed that smartphones distract students during the classes, while the teacher, Wafaa Al -Basha, explained that the absence of phones away from the hands of students enhances social communication, and Ibrahim Al -Qabbani stressed that the decision aims to create a more focused educational environment.

The educators welcomed: Marwan Al -Husseini, Maitha Hamdan, Sumaya Al Ali and Ihab Ziada, for his role in strengthening the educational role of the school, and they saw that it contributes to raising academic achievement throughout the school day, and considered that it enhances school discipline.

On the other hand, some students’ families expressed concern about the interruption of communication with their children during the school day, while students expressed their dissatisfaction, considering phones a necessary educational tool.
