A 5.5 -magnitude earthquake struck the North Sumatra Province, west of Indonesia.
The American Earthquake Institute stated in a statement that the earthquake center fell about 50 km from the city of Sebulga, and at a depth of 52 km.
There were no immediate reports on registering human or material losses as a result of the earthquake.
