Saudi official: Empowering women in the Kingdom is a tangible reality that every woman and girl feels

In an interview with United Nations news, on the sidelines of the sixty -ninth session of the Women’s Status Committee, Dr. Maymouna Bint Khalil confirmed that this presidency reflects international confidence in the Kingdom’s management of women’s empowerment files, noting that the Kingdom has invested in its participation in order to exchange experiences with other countries.

Inspiring Saudi models

The Saudi official highlighted the importance of supporting girls in the Arab world, noting that political will and family and community support are decisive factors in achieving progress. She said: “Support is also supposed to be multi -party, continuous and continuous and has a clear goal, which is empowerment. “

Dr. Maimouna cited the participation of the young Saudi woman Jana Al -Rifi in the opening session, describing this as a vivid example of what the girl could achieve if she finds the appropriate support. She also praised the participation of the famous Saudi opera singer Remaz Al -Aqabi, who said she presented a distinctive Saudi artistic touch through the music compass “A voice trip in the curriculum of Begin’s work”Which the Kingdom presented as a gift to the sixty -ninth session of the Women’s Status Committee, and highlighted the role of women in various fields.

Dr. Maymouna expressed her country’s pride in her leading female models in various fields, and called for more support to girls in the Arab and Islamic world and the whole world, noting that the Kingdom has a lot that can share it with the world.

A political declaration to empower women

The opening session of the Women’s Status Committee witnessed the adoption of a political declaration on the occasion of the celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of the Bayen advertisement and a work curriculum, to respect and protect women and girls, support their rights, equality and empowerment.

The political declaration reaffirms the obligations of the Baygen Declaration and curriculum – which was originally adopted in 1995 at the Fourth World Conference on Women – and stresses the need to respect all human rights and basic freedoms of every woman and girl, without exception.

In this context, Dr. Maymouna Bint Khalil expressed her happiness with the adoption of this announcement under the presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that the adoption of the advertisement was preceded by many and many meetings, negotiations and discussions on what is being included and the language used in this announcement. She added that the advertisement is a modernization of the fields in the Begin’s work curriculum.

Story of empowerment

The Saudi official said that the Kingdom organized three side events during the sixty -ninth session of the Women’s Status Committee. The first event reviewed the story of empowering Saudi women from the beginnings of women’s education until their arrival at decision -making centers.

The second event focused on the subject of the care economy, paid and unpaid. Dr. Maymouna said that this topic is now a priority in all countries of the world. She added: “The Kingdom is interested in this issue because we witnessed the doubling of women’s participation in the labor market in a short period. We moved from 17% in 2017 to 36.2% in 2024, more than weakness.”

As for the third event, it focused on the issue of building indicators that measure the progress made in the various fields in which women participate.

Dr. Maymouna Bint Khalil said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has shared her experience in building the women’s participation in development. “This is a local indicator in which I want to measure the tender that women offer – whether it is in the educational or health field, in decision -making, in the economy, or even in social affairs. The Kingdom is also working to build an indicator that measures the participation of women in the face of climate and climate change issues.”
