"Culture and tourism" The 17th session of "Abu Dhabi Art" Next November

Abu Dhabi, April 3/ WAM/ The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi organizes the activities of the 17th session of the “Abu Dhabi Art” exhibition during the period from 19 to 23 November in Manara Al Saadiyat.
Abu Dhabi’s art announced that he received the requests of the exhibitions wishing to participate in its 17th edition of the current year, and the door for receiving applications will be closed on April 30, 2025.
He also announced the selection of Emirati artist Sheikha Al -Mazroua to work on the visual campaign in the current year and presenting her work, highlighting her influential role in the Emirati art scene, and to emphasize her pioneering contributions to contemporary art in the UAE and highlighting her artwork.
Diyala Nusseibeh, director of the Abu Dhabi Art Exhibition, said that Sheikha participated in the 2017 course of Abu Dhabi art within the annual program “The Prospects of Emerging Artists”, welcoming her work in this year’s session to know the development of her artistic career, especially as she is one of the most successful Emirati artists from the young generation.
Sheikha Al -Mazroua derives her inspiration in her practices and artistic works from simple abstract art and conceptual art, influenced by the artists of the modernist movement and the artists of the “Puhaus” academy, such as: Paul Keyel, Carl André, and Feelili Kandinsky.
Its business mixes the materials produced in large quantities, such as electronic waste and building materials, with colors and shapes, forming geometric abstract sculptures that deal with different concepts such as space, tension and materialism.
Sheikha Al -Mazroua said that art is not based on making things, but rather to provoke thinking, as it is a language that does not need limits, noting that converting materials into artistic works is just a way to ask what we think we know.
Sheikha Al -Mazrou’s artistic works are included in prominent international collections, including the RMZ Foundation, Jameel Art Center, and the Ferjam Foundation.
In 2020, Sheikha won the Paulo Prize being E Silva Arts, and she was nominated by the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Swiss Watch Industry brand Richard Mail to win the Richard Mail Award for Arts, and she is currently working as an assistant professor of visual arts at the College of Arts and Humanities at New York University Abu Dhabi.
