The Security Council discusses Israeli attacks on the Palestinian territories

The UN Security Council held an emergency meeting yesterday, to discuss escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volcker Turk, expressed his shock to the killing of 15 medical and humanitarian workers in Gaza, pointing to fears that the Israeli occupation army committed war crimes, calling for an independent and rapid investigation, with the need to hold those responsible for violations accountable.

The bombing of the displaced camps

Turk stressed that the bombing of the Palestinian displaced camps and the forced transport of the residents of Gaza is not complied with international humanitarian law, stressing that the blockade imposed a month ago represents a collective punishment, and perhaps it reaches the use of starvation as a way of war.
He pointed to the deterioration of the situation in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, where more than 40,000 Palestinians were displaced and refugee camps were destroyed, calling for a ceasefire immediately, and to ensure humanitarian aid reaching all parts of Gaza without obstacle.
