90% of females to prevent HPV by 2030

In the context of its efforts to enhance public health and prevent applicable diseases, the Ministry of Health and Community Protection revealed that the pre -emptive strategy to combat the HPV (HPV) aims to reduce the rates of cervical cancer and other diseases associated with the virus, by vaccinating 90% of girls with the virus vaccine before they reach the age of 15 years by 2030, in addition to providing early detection of cervical cancer Upon reaching 25 years, providing advanced treatment for affected cases according to the highest international standards, and within the framework of commitment to the global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer.
She explained that one of the most prominent strategy initiatives is to include the vaccine in the national immunization program in 2018 for females, which made the Emirates the first in the eastern Mediterranean region, which provides this vaccination for school students from 13 to 14 years old.
In 2023, in a pioneering step, the Ministry announced the expansion of the program of immunization against the HPV to include males in the age group 13-14 years, with the aim of enhancing societal protection and preventing diseases associated with the virus in the sexes.
The “Ministry of Health” is keen to raise awareness of the HPV, confirming the UAE’s commitment to achieving global standards in prevention, early detection and treatment, which was honored by the World Health Organization last year, in appreciation of the efficiency of the national program for immunization and the inclusion of the HPV vaccine within its advanced system.
Early examination and immunization
The ministry explained that its strategy is launched from an integrated approach to public health based on prevention and awareness, and seeks to implement the latest technologies in the field of fortification, and these efforts are compatible with the directions of the “General Society” that confirms that promoting health awareness is a shared responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of individuals and institutions, and the ministry indicated that the consolidation of the culture of early examination and immunization represents an essential pillar in promoting community health, in line with the national vision towards a higher achievement Standards of the quality of life and the construction of a prosperous and prosperous society.
Official statistics revealed that cervical cancer occupies the fifth rank among the types of cancer scattered among women in the Emirates according to the National Cancer Registry, recording rates lower than the global average thanks to effective preventive policies, and the ministry stressed the need to commit to a periodic cervical examination for the age group from 25 to 65 years every 3-5 years, which ensures early detection and raises healing rates.
