Trump imposes customs duties on the islands in the Antarctic

A remote group of Antarctic Islands has been identified as a goal for the new global customs tariffs announced by President Donald Trump, although its population has no number of people..

On Wednesday, April 2, the White House announced that Trump, 78, would impose a 10% basic tariff on all countries that seek to import goods to the United States.

Many countries will face the primary average, while other commodities of commercial partners, including the European Union and China, will face higher rates after classifying it as the “worst violators” of unfair commercial policies, according to the BBC (BBC).

According to the list of customs tariffs published by the White House on the site XThe unprepared islands of Herd and Mondonal – an external region of Australia – are not exempt from the 10% customs tariffs on goods. However, the volcanic carrot group is famous for being a haven for penguins, not for international trade.

A post on the Australian Southern Pole website on the Internet stated that the islands are “very far from everything”, which requires a journey through “some of the harshest seas on this planet.” Even commercial tours do not travel there.

The Guardian newspaper reported that the region “contains fish fisheries, but there are no buildings or human residence at all.”

The UNESCO World Heritage website pointed out that “the distinctive value of preserving the islands of Hurd and Meddonald – one of the rare virgin island environmental systems in the world – lies in the complete absence of strange plants and animals, as well as human influence.”.

The carrots were included in the customs tariffs list because they are Australian lands, according to Axios website..

Among the other Australian areas that were mentioned in the Trump list of the Cocos (Killing) Islands, Christmas island and Norfolk island, where the latter was included in a 29% customs tariff while the other two islands were included by 10%.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz said on Thursday..
