The Kingdom was keen to present a helping hand in a way that enhances stability and prosperity in those countries, and supported regional and international initiatives and efforts in the field of demining, and to reduce the social and economic implications of it, in an effort to protect civilians and achieve a safer and more stable environment.
The King Salman Relief Center has implemented projects to combat mines in Yemen, Azerbaijan and Iraq, at a value of 241 million and 167 thousand dollars.
“Pores” project
In this context, the Kingdom launched through the center the “pore” project to purify Yemeni lands of mines in Yemen in June 2018, a humanitarian initiative from it to help the Yemeni people in facing this dangerous security phenomenon, and is implemented by Saudi cadres and international experiences consisting of 550 employees and 32 teams trained to remove mines in various forms and pictures that were planted in random ways in various governorates, with the aim of confronting For direct threats to the lives of the Yemeni people, spreading security in the Yemeni regions, and treating human tragedies resulting from the spread of mines.

Since its launch, the project has been able to extract 486,108 mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ammunition, and cleanse 65,888.674 cubic meters of land.
Program prostheses program
The King Salman Relief Center established the program of prostheses in Yemen, benefiting 25,340 individuals, with the aim of restoring hope for people with mines by providing high -quality industrial limbs for the injured, training local cadres on the techniques of manufacturing prostheses, building the capabilities of health institutions to ensure the localization and sustainability of services, and rehabilitate the injured to be productive persons who are able to work and practice their normal lives.

The number of artificial parties ’projects in Yemen reached 34 projects worth 39 million and 497 thousand dollars. The project’s work did not depend on its basic mission of removing mines, but rather the call of humanity and the center presented many health and social assistance to the victims and the injured.
Mine
In the context of the field efforts to remove mine, workers face severe risks that may lead to loss of lives, and the number of those who were martyred during the performance of their duties in the project from its inception until today is about 30 individuals as a result of the explosion of mines or ammunition during the purification process.
The efforts of the King Salman Relief Center in combating the spread of mines were not limited to the Yemeni side, but rather planned for other countries, and in January 2024 AD, the center initiated to provide financial grants to purify the Azerbaijani lands of mines, with the aim of implementing the ongoing reconstruction and reconstruction work for the return of the displaced to their homes in the targeted areas, improving the environment and protecting civilians, especially women and children, building capabilities, and providing the environment Safe, maintaining public health, reducing the serious effects of mines on the individual and society.
Remove cluster munitions
In April 2024, the center funded the projects of survey and the removal of cluster munitions and mines in a number of Iraqi provinces to achieve a safe environment free of mines for the stability and security of Iraqi citizens, improving their livelihood and enabling them to practice their work in agriculture and grazing livestock, as well as supporting and strengthening the Iraqi economy.
On this day, the King Salman Relief Center celebrates the International Day to raise awareness of the risk of mines, corresponding to April 4 of each year to raise awareness of the risks of mines and call to enhance efforts in combating them and protecting souls from them, building the capabilities of workers in this field in affected countries and alleviating the suffering of the affected.
