Customs duties “treatment” for American economy diseases

US President Donald Trump reduced the concerns that prevail in the markets due to the new customs duties that he imposed, and compared them to “treatment” aimed at treating American economy diseases.
At a time when the stock indicators were heading towards a new decline today, Monday, the US President told journalists on the presidential plane “Air Force One”: “Sometimes a treatment must be taken for recovery.”

Declining

On his way back to Washington after the weekend he spent at his residence in Maralago, Florida, Trump was asked about the decline in financial markets since he announced the imposition of customs duties by at least 10% on all US imports on Wednesday.

Trump stressed that his country has become “much stronger” since the announcement of these measures, noting that the decline in the markets was not a deliberate decision.
He said he wanted to find a solution to “we have with China and with the European Union and other countries.”

The American economy relies on imports

“I do not want to return in any market, but sometimes a treatment must be taken for recovery,” Trump added, in reference to the American economy dependent on imports, stressing that “the only way to solve this problem is customs duties.”
Trump confirmed that he spoke during the weekend “with many Europeans and Asians and with the entire world, all of whom want to reach an agreement.”
In response to a question about the possibility of negotiating a customs -free zone with Europe, as his advisor, Elon Musk, suggested, Trump reiterated that “Europe has achieved a wealth behind us and our treated very badly.”
And he added: “They come to the negotiating table want to speak, but there will be no discussion until they give us a lot of money on an annual basis.”
