"Sharjah for the book" Discuss the achievements of the stage and future plans

Sharjah, April 13 / WAM / Sheikha Badour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, headed the fourth meeting of the Authority’s Board of Directors in the presence of the members of the Council and a number of executive leaders and representatives of work teams to follow up the developments of the strategic projects of the authority and review the achievements of the last stage and develop future plans to enhance Sharjah leadership in the book and publishing in regionally and globally.

Sheikha Badour Al Qasimi affirmed the commission’s commitment to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah in establishing the role of the emirate as a global center for culture and publishing industry, praising the qualitative strategic initiatives achieved during the last period that contributed to enhancing Sharjah’s position on the international publishing map.

She said that the work of the Sharjah Book Authority revolves around strengthening the cultural foundations of the Emirate of Sharjah, building purposeful international cooperation and continuous adaptation to the emerging challenges, as our initiatives contribute to creating permanent links by listing stories, which strengthens the regional and global publishing scene, noting that what the authority is bringing us from a vibrant, sustainable and comprehensive future through literature.

The meeting discussed a package of priority strategic files for the next stage, foremost of which is digital transformation, developing human cadres, improving the experience of customers, enhancing sustainability and innovation, as well as operational efficiency that focuses on improving processes, raising the efficiency of resources and accelerating achievement.

The Council also reviewed the role of technology in enhancing the authority’s efficiency through the customer relations management project (CRM) and the main performance indicators (KPI), which includes 75 strategic indicators to support institutional growth, raise customer satisfaction, expand revenues, reduce costs, and build sustainable relations with the public through advanced technical solutions.

In the context of its review of the most prominent achievements of the commission, the Council touched on what it achieved during the past months of participation and events, most notably the organization of the fourth edition of the “International Distributors Conference” and hosting the third session of the “Sharjah Animation Conference” and organizing “the Sharjah Fear Fees Exhibition” in addition to the preparations for the participation of Sharjah, the guest of honor of the Rabat International Book Fair and participation in the most prominent international book galleries.

The meeting also reviewed the professional initiatives of the authority, including the “Growth Path” program of the Sharjah Fund for the Sustainability of Publishing and Specialized Courses aimed at raising the efficiency of publishers and distributors, as well as reviewing the outputs of the previous mental storm.

The members of the Council discussed the expected challenges during the next stage, foremost of which is the speed of technical change, the growing expectations of customers and competition for competencies, stressing the importance of enhancing the flexibility of institutional work and achieving a balance between innovation and governance in a manner that guarantees sustainability of performance and achieving future readiness.

The Council also discussed ways to enhance the integration of its efforts with the institutional initiatives of the authority in a way that contributes to achieving the Vision of the Commission 2030 and reviewed the mechanism of proposing new initiatives, the annual work plan for the council, evaluation mechanisms, enabling youth competencies, and intensifying cooperation with research centers and specialized councils.

At the end of the meeting, Sheikha praised the role of the efforts of the council members and supportive work teams, praising their active role in upgrading the work system within the authority, calling for continuing to build on the achievements achieved to consolidate a pioneering model in governance and innovation that reflects the aspirations of Sharjah and enhances its cultural presence in the Arab and international.
