Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is carried out the first robotic treatment for prostate cancer

The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Hospital has achieved a global medical achievement, the first of its kind, represented in the implementation of the first focal treatment for prostate cancer remotely using the robot, in cooperation with Cleveland Clinic experts in the United States within the Cleveland Clinic global network.

HIFU is a non -surgical option that is accurately targeting the affected tissues without the need for major surgery or radiotherapy. The “Focal-One” system depends on a robotic arm that directs the wave packages with high accuracy under the supervision of the attending physician.

The procedure was successfully implemented between the two care teams in Abu Dhabi and Ouhayu, where Dr. Robin Olivaris was managed by a urology specialist in Cleveland Clinic – Ohio, the robotic arm of the United States, while Dr. Walid Hassan, head of the urology department in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, took over the coordination and implementation of the process in the field in the UAE capital.

The process took only about one hour and was smoothly with precision without recording any complications, which reflects the great capabilities of advanced technologies in enhancing ways to access specialized health care around the world.

Hassan Jassim Al -Nuwais, Chairman of the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, stressed that this achievement represents an exceptional step that enhances the capabilities of intercontinental care and opens new horizons to reduce global sanitary gaps through advanced technologies and international partnerships.

For her part, Dr. Noura Khamis Al -Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Health Department in Abu Dhabi, said that this achievement represents a qualitative addition to Abu Dhabi’s record of health excellence and reflects the continuous commitment of the emirate to develop a smart health care system that supports innovation and ensures the best services for patients locally and globally.

The hospital began providing concentrated ultrasound therapy since October 2023 as one of the modern options for the treatment of non -spread prostate tumors, as cancer cells are targeted with high accuracy while reducing the risk of side effects.
