Reducing interest in Egypt 225 basis points

The Egyptian Central Bank decided today, Thursday, the main interest rates at 225 basis points.

This comes after 7 meetings in which the centralization established interest rates since March 2024, at 27.25% for deposit and 28.25% for lending, the last of which was last February.

A Reuters poll expected that the Central Bank of Egypt would reduce interest rates 2% at the April meeting.

The “basic inflation” recorded its lowest rate since February 2022, during the reading of last March to 9.4% on an annual basis.
