Stopping the Tunisian swimmer Ahmed Al -Hefnawi due to violations of doping rules

The Tunisian swimmer Ahmed El -Hefnawi, winner of the 400m freestyle gold in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, was suspended for a period of 21 months because of his failure to comply three times in providing information about his whereabouts to undergo a sudden test outside the competition to combat doping, according to the integrity unit of water sports.
The Integrity Unit wrote on its official website: “Al -Hafnawi acknowledged that three violations related to his location during a period of 12 months, in violation of Article 2.4 of the anti -doping rules for the International Swimming Federation, and agreed to a 21 -month penalty.”
Athletes must enter their position through one of the platforms within a special program with the aim of undergoing unannounced tests, in the context of fighting doping.
The suspension entered into force on April 11, 2024, when it will be brought me intolerance to all the results of the Tunisian swimmer, provided that the punishment will end on January 10, 2026.
Al-Hefnawi, the 400m free gold, withdrew at the Tokyo Olympics, which was held in 2021 due to the Kofid-19 pandemic, from the Paris games last summer. He also won the 800m and 1500 m in the World Championships in the Japanese city of Fukuka in 2023.
