المملكة: The Olaya Village Municipality develops the urban landscape across Najd Eastern Gate Square

The Al-Olaya Village Governorate is implemented by the “Eastern Najd Gate Square” project, which is considered one of the specific projects aimed at highlighting the architectural character of the Najd region from its eastern side, and comes within the municipality’s efforts in Traditional Najdi architecture, taking its elements from the lifestyle that the region’s ancient inhabitants were known for, reflecting an integrated design philosophy that mimics mud houses and the authentic architectural details they carry, in addition to evoking the features of Najdi oases in harmony with the surrounding natural environment.
Najdi Oases
The implementation of the project included the use of natural clay in cladding the architectural blocks, in addition to natural stone floors, In order to enhance the urban identity and add an aesthetic character harmonious with the environment, water and agricultural elements inspired by the nature of the eastern Najdi oases were included, in addition to the cultivation of wild plants from the environments of the plains and valleys of Al-Samman, which gives the site an integrated environmental and heritage dimension.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghamdi said that the project comes within the municipality’s strategy aimed at developing public squares and improving the urban landscape, while preserving the local architectural identity, which contributes to raising the quality of life and enhancing residents’ connection to the place.
He stressed that the municipality is continuing to implement specific projects that contribute to highlighting the cultural and urban heritage, and achieving a balance between authenticity and modernity, in keeping with the comprehensive development aspirations of the governorate.
