The Sorbon University Abu Dhabi organizes an artistic evening to honor "Umm Kulthum"

Abu Dhabi, April 18/ WAM/ The Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi, organized an artistic evening to celebrate the immortal artistic and humanitarian heritage of the East planet Umm Kulthum, as part of its initiatives to honor women’s achievements in the fields of education, arts and global research.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Noura Bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State, Chairman of the National Orchestra of the United Arab Emirates, and Sheikha Alia Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Director General of the Orchestra.

The ceremony was held by the Belgian -Tunisian international artist Ghalia Ben Ali, who presented a group of masterpieces of Umm Kulthum in an influential presentation hosted by the Zayed Theater at the university.

The evening witnessed a remarkable presence that exceeded 450 people, and included a group of students, faculty members, and cultural figures, as well as a number of members of the local community in Abu Dhabi.

The university announced, during the evening, the rename of its famous oval hall to become the Umm Kulthum Hall, in honor of the exceptional artist and to immortalize her cultural and artistic heritage transit, and in appreciation of her status an inspiring symbol in the Arab world.

The university also organized an interactive artistic workshop that allowed students and visitors to express the spirit of Umm Kulthum music through drawing, adding a creative and experimental dimension to the atmosphere of honor.
