Washington will abandon peace efforts in Ukraine in this case

US President Donald Trump said today, Friday, that the United States will focus on other priorities if it is not soon reached an agreement to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump’s comments came after his Foreign Minister Marco Rubio said that Washington will withdraw from the care of the talks within days if it is not clear that the peace between Moscow and Kiev is “possible.”

Peace between Russia and Ukraine

In response to a question about Rubio’s comments, the US President said: “There are no specific days, but we want to complete the matter quickly.”
Trump refused to hold the responsibility of not reaching a truce agreement for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ordered the comprehensive invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, or to Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski. But he stressed the need for both sides to make progress.
“If one of the two parties, for any reason, made it very hard, then we will say simply: You are fools. You are fools. You are terrible people, and we will exceed the matter.”
“But we hope that we will not have to do so,” he added, and Trump has repeatedly claimed before returning to the presidency that he would end the Ukraine war within 24 hours.

Trump and Putin conversations

Ukraine had agreed to a temporary comprehensive ceasefire, and Russia was accused of delaying reaching an agreement to secure a better negotiating position.
Trump had started direct talks with Putin in February, after his return to the White House, and said he hoped that the Russian leader would not be delayed.
He stated in response to a question whether Putin was delaying him, “I hope it will not be. I will tell you soon.”
Trump denied that he was a victim of Putin’s manipulation, who denied that Russia would invade Ukraine until the eve of the attack, while the American president stressed: “No one is manipulating me, I am trying to help.”
