Internal armed conflict
Nubua won popularity through his strong campaign against organized crime at a time when violence escalated in the country, which led him to declare that Ecuador is going through a state of “internal armed conflict.”
The Nubua government claimed that those behind the recent threat are “criminal structures” and “political bodies defeated in the polls.”
Nubua pointed to an alleged military intelligence report circulating on social media, stating that after Sunday elections, “the murderers of the wage from Mexico and other countries began to Ecuador.”
