Farida Al -Hosani: The UAE leads efforts to reach a world free of malaria

Abu Dhabi, April 24/ WAM/ The UAE tops the list of countries that support efforts to reduce the spread of malaria at the global level; Its humanitarian initiatives and financial contributions are major factors to accelerate the steps towards reaching an empty world of this disease.
While the UAE celebrates the 28th anniversary of the absence of any actual injury inside it since 1997, and the 18th anniversary of its publicity is completely free of malaria, the disease caused the death of 597 thousand people around the world in the year 2023, according to the World Health Organization.
On the occasion of the International Day of Mullahs, which falls on April 25 of each year, Dr. Farida Al -Hosani, Executive Vice President of the International Institute for the Elimination of Infectious Diseases “Galid”, which works under the supervision of the Zayed Humanitarian Foundation, stressed that Malaria still constitutes a global challenge as estimates indicate 263 million injuries around the world in 2023, and although most cases are concentrated in the African continent, the disease is that the disease is It spreads in many other regions.
Dr. Al -Hosani said, in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, “WAM”, that “Glaid” is part of the legacy and initiatives of the UAE in combating infectious diseases around the world, which has the patronage and follow -up of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State “may God protect him”, where the institute focuses on supporting research and innovation to direct global efforts through policies, studies and research that supports eradication of diseases Infectious, such as malaria, elephant disease, river blindness and polio, in addition to contributing to building and enhancing human capabilities, especially in countries that suffer from these diseases.
She pointed out that “Galid” works in cooperation with many international institutions to find different ways and harness advanced technology, to develop programs to eradicate infectious diseases around the world, as well as in this context with the ministries of health, universities, institutes and community institutions in many countries.
Dr. Farida stressed the importance of concerted international efforts to activate the confrontation of malaria, as many countries still suffer from a shortage of human resources and research that serve the aspect of treatment, prevention or disposal of the causes of this disease.
Since its foundation in 2019, the Galide Institute formed a decisive addition to the global health sector, and its efforts contributed to accelerating the elimination of infectious diseases, and over 6 years, “Glies” launched dozens of programs in about 30 countries service for this goal.
The initiative to reach the last inclination, the global health initiative supported by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, announced in April 2024 the provision of 55 million dirhams to “Galid”, which is the second grant since the launch of the institute.
The UAE devotes its expertise and giving to reduce the spread of malaria and helping many countries to confront it, while international health organizations praise the Emirati support for global efforts to combat malaria, including the support of “La Malaria after today” and the “last tendency” initiative, as well as its humanitarian initiatives during the past years to enhance health and treatment programs for the global alliance of vaccines and immunization “Gavi” and the “Dahar Partnership” program Malaria.
In 2020, the UAE witnessed the launch of the “predicting a healthy future” initiative in order to accelerate the pace of progress in combating deadly diseases that are transmitted by mosquitoes, including malaria, and in January 2022 the initiative launched the new institute of malaria and climate solutions “IMACS”, a global institute concerned with fighting malaria in the face of climate change and weather fluctuations.
In January 2023, both the “last mile” initiative and the “La Malaria after today” and “Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence” announced the expansion of its initiative on climate and global health “predicting a healthy future”, by supporting a new grant for a period of three years in the amount of $ 5 million.
Locally .. the UAE applies through the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, an effective strategy in protecting society from communicable and infectious diseases through the preventive health system and the epidemiological surveillance program to discover and address the states coming to the state.
In cooperation with local health authorities, the Ministry continues to preserve the state free of malaria, through the tight implementation of the post -advertising plan by enhancing early detection and treatment of expatriate cases, and continuing to rehabilitate and train the workforce in all areas of control and enhance the activities of mosquitoes that carry the disease.
