The construction of the huge project requires that 13 million cubic meters of sand, build a road with a length of 386 km, in addition to a full -equipped airport, extend a pipeline with a length of 645 km, dig 145 oil wells, and establish three gas sorting stations, and all this work was dragged into 50 million working hours, so that the field enters the production stage in 1998.
The first phase of the expansion project raised production to 750 thousand barrels per day of high -value crude oil by 2009, then rose to one million barrels per day in 2016, while the project to extract natural gas fluids, added a factory with a capacity of 2.4 billion standard cubic feet per day, providing large quantities of ethane, which is a basic element for industrial development.

The visit included a tour of the Wildlife Reserve in Al -Shaybah, which is witnessing the company’s efforts to protect environmental diversity, through an area that extends over more than 600 square kilometers, and is located west of the Shaybah residential and industrial complex in the Empty Quarter.
Aramco’s efforts in the reserve focus on resettling the species that were present in the region previously, such as the Arabian Oryx, Ramli and Owlie, and the company succeeded in re -introducing these species to the reserve in 2016, where they flourish and multiply in a safe and protected environment.
Aramco is implementing wildlife monitoring programs and advanced environmental research for a better understanding of desert environmental systems and how to protect it more effectively, and is one of the advanced national models in protecting biological diversity, in an experience that brought together technology and nature.

On the second day of the visit, the editor -in -chief moved to a number of Saudi Aramco facilities in Dhahran, and they were briefed on the process of development and innovation in a number of specialized centers, and the beginning was from the Professional Development Center for Exploration and Production, which plays a fundamental role in developing young national competencies in the fields of geology and oil engineering, and the center aims to accelerate the process of building skills and transfer knowledge to engineers And new geologists, taking advantage of the experiences of experienced cadres in Saudi Aramco, provides a comprehensive group of interactive programs designed to reduce the time required for new engineers and geologists to effectively contribute to their jobs, in addition to training courses in vocational engineering development, inspection and vocational accreditation.
The center includes advanced facilities, including four -dimensional imaging environments that actually overwhelm students inside the oil and gas reservoirs in the depths of the earth, in addition to realistic excavation simulation devices that simulate the actual drilling conditions, which enables the tendency to acquire practical experience, and computerized tools for analyzing rock samples that help in understanding the geological composition of the staff, by combining interactive teaching and solving practical problems, The coach of the center is young employees to face future challenges in the energy industry, and contributes to the development of the energy sector in the Kingdom.

The tour continued at the innovation center in the exploration and production sector, which is a sophisticated facility aimed at developing smart solutions to the sector’s challenges, speeding up digital transformation in exploration and production, as it focuses on increasing the discovery and extraction of hydrocarbon materials, using advanced technologies such as smart virtual assistant, visual embodiment techniques for data analysis, and improving discovery and extraction.
The center works to ensure reliability and safety, and develop predictive solutions using automated learning algorithms; To monitor the assets of production and prediction of any potential breakdowns in equipment, in addition to reducing costs using artificial intelligence technologies in water production management, leading to reducing energy consumption, which reduces costs and carbon emissions.
