Florida .. affected by a damaged air pad that reaps 3 million dollars in compensation
Defect
The jury in the Miami-Dayd Province reached the ruling in favor of Jose Hernandez last Thursday, according to the court records, as it filed his judicial lawsuit since 2022 against the “Takata Takata Cases Compensation Fund”, which was established within the framework of the company’s bankruptcy.
Hernandez was driving his Honda Civic car in Miami in December 2020 when another car hit him, and according to the lawsuit, the accident was supposed to cause minor injuries only, but the Takaa Takta airbag pump exploded intact, which resulted in a metal fragment that settled in his right arm.
Repeated accidents and withdrawals from the market
According to the regulatory authorities, at least 28 deaths in the United States have been linked to the pumps and airbags of Tacata, and more than 36 deaths around the world. More than 400 people were injured in the United States due to these defects.
The widespread clouds of these airbags began in 2013, when Takata was using ammonium nitrate to cause a small explosion that blows the airbag when accidents occurred, but this chemical may decompose over time as a result of severe heat and humidity, which may lead to an explosion with excessive force, which leads to a tear of a metal package and the launch of fragments inside the passenger cabin.
