The UAE concludes its participation in the general meeting of the group "Minavvaves" In Jordan

Amman, May 9 / WAM / The UAE has concluded its participation in the fortieth general meeting of the financial work group for the Middle East and North Africa region “Minafvv”, which was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during the period from 4 to 8 May.
The high -ranking state delegation, His Excellency Hamid Saif Al -Zaabi, Secretary -General and Vice -Chairman of the National Committee to counter money laundering and combating terrorist financing and financing of illegal organizations, chaired the Vice -President of the Financial Working Group for the Middle East and North Africa.
The delegation included the state, members of the National Committee, which included the ministries of justice, the interior, the economy, the financial information unit, the executive office of the oversight, the prohibition of deployment and a number of relevant authorities.
These are the first meetings that are held in light of the joint priorities of the presidency between the Emirates and Jordan for the period 2025-2026, where His Excellency Samia Abu Sharif from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan holds the presidency of the group, while His Excellency Al -Zaabi will hold the position of Vice President, and these joint priorities reflect a renewed regional commitment to enhance efforts to combat financial crimes and raise the efficiency of anti -money laundering systems and terrorist financing in the region.
During its participation, the UAE presented many working papers that included the role of the private sector in facing terrorist financing, and presented on the role of smart regulations in confronting the dangers presented by the Ministry of Justice on its project smart monitoring system, as well as a joint working paper with the Moroccan side on best practices in the national risk assessment, and participations in the Forum for the Anti -Terrorism Funding Experts, and the technical committee for targeted financial penalties.
His Excellency Hamid Al -Zaabi said that the UAE’s participation in the meetings of the financial work group for the Middle East and North Africa region “Minavvvs” reflects the state’s continuous commitment to enhancing regional and international cooperation in the field of combating financial crimes, stressing that the meetings are a pivotal platform to support national priorities, consolidate regional partnerships, and contribute to building a more efficient and transparent financial system.
His Excellency added that these meetings support the ongoing efforts in addressing illegal financing and cross -border crimes, in order to enhance the state’s position as a reliable global financial center.
The UAE and Jordan had previously set five joint strategic priorities, aiming to enhance the group’s governance, operational effectiveness and global cooperation, as priorities include support member states in preparation for the next round of mutual evaluation operations, enhancing the system of governance within the group, raising the level of implementation of the recommendations of the financial work group, in addition to enhancing strategic cooperation with international partners and regional bodies, developing risk monitoring methods in the fields of money laundering and financing Terrorism and the financing of the spread of arms.
The agenda of the general meeting included vital sessions such as a set of trends and methods of risk, the work group on methodologies and capacity building, and the work group for mutual evaluation.
The plenary session discussed strategic priorities, adoption of reports, assessments results, and regional coordination to address emerging risks.
It is noteworthy that the Minavvvings Group, which was established in 2004, is a regional body similar to the Financial Working Group “FAF”, and includes 21 member states and 18 monitoring agencies, and plays a pivotal role in regional efforts to monitor and prevent illegal financial flows in line with international standards.
