The United Nations welcomes the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan

Antonio Guterres, Secretary -General of the United Nations, welcomed the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, describing it as a positive step towards ending current hostilities and alleviating tensions between the two countries.

In a statement attributed to Stefan Dujarik, Guterres, his spokesperson, expressed his hope that this agreement will contribute to a permanent peace, and to create a favorable environment to address the broader and continuous issues between the two countries.

He stressed that the United Nations stands ready to support efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
