“Higher Education”: 46 universities know the advantages of the national platform for practical training for students

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research held a virtual workshop, to introduce higher education institutions in the country to the most prominent characteristics and mechanisms for using the national platform for practical training for higher education students, which was recently launched, in partnership between (the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Emirates Competitiveness Council – the “NAFES” programme).

The Ministry confirmed that this workshop comes within a series of weekly workshops targeting higher education institutions in the country. To introduce the advantages of the platform and ways to benefit from it, calling on all relevant higher education institutions to participate and start using the platform.


The workshop witnessed a large attendance and interaction, as it was attended by more than 350 academic and administrative staff representing 46 higher education institutions in the country, during which the Ministry’s team reviewed the guidelines and mechanisms for using the platform, its main advantages, and how to use it effectively, and it also included providing guidance on how to benefit from the available practical training opportunities.

A detailed explanation was also provided about the registration mechanisms on the platform, the management of training contracts, the criteria for selecting training providers, and how to benefit from the data and analyzes provided by the platform to improve the quality of educational outcomes, in a way that meets the needs of the labor market.

The workshop came within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to raise the level of awareness of the new system among higher education institutions, and to enhance understanding of the mechanisms for using the platform and the governance requirements associated with it, in a way that contributes to the development of high-quality practical training programs that are compatible with the state’s priorities in building a knowledge economy based on knowledge, innovation and future skills.

It included a section to respond to participants’ inquiries, which focused on the technical and operational aspects of the platform, the mechanisms for linking educational institutions and training entities, and the standards for accrediting training opportunities, in addition to reviewing best practices in managing practical training, within the new system for governing practical training for higher education students.

The platform
The platform constitutes a national strategic initiative aimed at enhancing students’ readiness for the labor market, unifying mechanisms for managing practical training at the level of educational institutions and economic sectors, and providing an integrated digital system that links higher education institutions with training entities to manage practical training processes effectively, starting from accrediting training entities, nominating students and following up on their progress, all the way to evaluating performance and measuring the outputs of international education institutions in the country.

The platform, which was launched within the “Nafis” platform, allows university students to register for qualitative practical training opportunities in the labor market in the country. It also allows institutions and companies of the public and private sectors to display the training opportunities available to them, thus consolidating their role as an essential partner in the national practical training system, and contributing to the preparation of qualified generations who possess the experience and practical skills required in the labor market, by enabling students to engage in high-level training programs, within various vital sectors, in a way that enhances the integration between theory and practice in the student’s journey. It contributes to supporting economic and knowledge development efforts in the country.
