Macron for Trump: Russia does not want peace

French President Emmanuel Macron said he had informed his American counterpart Donald Trump in a telephone conversation on Friday that Russia was unwilling to bring peace to Ukraine.

“We have just contacted Trump while we were in Albania … again, Russian President Vladimir Putin refuses to respond to the unconditional ceasefire proposal offered by the Americans and supported by Ukraine and European countries,” Macron added on his Twitter account.

“By refusing to a ceasefire and a dialogue with Ukraine, Russia shows that it does not want peace and that it is only trying to gain time by continuing the war.”

Macron is participating in a meeting in Albania for senior European leaders with Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski.
