The European Union in response to Trump’s tariffs: "It throws the world into a dangerous spiral"

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, said in a joint statement: "Imposing tariffs would weaken transatlantic relations and threaten to send the world into a dangerous downward spiral".
They confirmed that "Europe will remain united, coordinated and committed to defending its sovereignty"
Talks in Washington
This position was issued days after Danish and Greenlandic officials held talks in Washington regarding Trump’s efforts to annex Greenland, without reaching an agreement.
Von der Leyen and Costa added. "The European Union shows its full solidarity with Denmark and the people of Greenland. Dialogue remains essential, and we are committed to building on the process that began last week between the Kingdom of Denmark and the United States".
