"Dalma race festival" .. Heritage and sports events in its first week

Al -Dhafra, May 19/ WAM/ The first week of the Dalma Historical Race Festival witnessed the organization of a number of various heritage and sports events in its eighth session that started on May 16 and continues until the first of next June, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council in Dalma Island in Al Dhafra region, and the festival activities will be held on Fridays, Saturday and Sunday.

Rashid Khadim Al -Rumaithi, director of the festival, praised the interaction that the festival found from the people and visitors of Dalma, which indicates the consolidation of his presence in the region during its successive sessions until it became part of the annual agenda of the Al -Jazeera community and the Al -Dhafra region, as it contributes to meeting the recreational and sports needs of different age groups.

He pointed out that the festival contributes to creating economic and social activity by encouraging productive families and stimulating the local market, as well as important roles in highlighting the maritime heritage of the UAE, promoting marine sports and promoting the UAE islands and drawing attention to its capabilities and historical importance.

Al -Rumaithi stressed that the festival will witness more sporting and heritage events during the next two weeks, which have a fans and constant encouragement, such as the Dalma race for long distances for sailing boats 60 feet, and the Dalma race for heritage rowing boats 40 feet, while the Dalma championship for hunting continues in its competitions until the conclusion of the festival.

The first week witnessed the organization of a number of various heritage, sports and recreational activities that included popular games, with the participation of more than 80 players who competed in the games “Fisheries”, “Cord Lifetime”, “Dome and Al -Marka”, and “Anbar”, which are held within the festival activities with the aim of highlighting the importance of popular games in Emirati society as an important element of national identity, besides its role in promoting the soul Competitiveness, upholding the values ​​of cooperation between young people.

Also, during the first week, the Kerem, Domino, Beach Football and Volleyball Championships were launched, while the festival theater witnessed the presentation of heritage and awareness activities, and interactive games with daily prizes for the public.

Yesterday, “Sunday” witnessed the start of the cooking competition in the “Al -Khubaisa” competitions, where the competition comes within the framework of highlighting the excellence of Emirati cuisine, introducing its civilized dimensions, promoting Emirati dishes among the festival pioneers, especially from the new generation, and contributing to expanding the participation of the people of the region in the festival’s activities.

Children have spaces for their activities within the festival’s activities, where a corner has been allocated to them to practice coloring activity for topics related to Emirati heritage and local environmental elements, which contributes to refining their manual skills and provides an entertainment and benefit element for them.
