Executive wages have risen 50% since 2019 .. and workers are without significant increase

A recent study conducted by Oxfam, which included data from more than 2000 companies in 35 countries, revealed that the average income of the executives exceeded one million dollars annually (885 thousand euros) in 2024, recording a big leap compared to the wages of ordinary workers.
The report confirms that the wages of the executive leaders have risen at a rate of 56 times faster compared to employees since 2019.
A significant rise in the wages of executives against the stagnation of workers ’wages
The study showed that the wages of the executives increased by 50% by the real value since 2019, while the wages of ordinary workers did not exceed 0.9% during the same period. Oxfam published these numbers in conjunction with World Workers Day, to highlight the widening of the global income gap.
The highest executive salaries in Europe: Ireland and Germany lead

Criticism of the absence of economic justice
Amitab Bihar, Executive Director of Oxfam International, described the scene by saying: “year after year, the wages of the chief executives are rising while millions of workers are struggling to secure their basic needs … this is not a system error, but rather the system itself.”
Failure to represent women in higher positions
The study indicated that less than 7% of the companies surveyed (more than 45,000 companies) were managed by women, although the entry of the executives in it exceeded 10 million dollars annually in 2024.
Companies achieve standard profits … and workers face high prices
Luk Tranegel, Secretary -General of the International Federation of Trade Unions, said that major companies “achieve historical profits while depriving workers of their most basic rights,” stressing that billionaires accumulated 206 billion dollars in one year, at a rate of 23,500 dollars per hour, a number that much exceeds the average global income of 2023 of $ 21,000.
Wage growth does not keep up with inflation globally
Although the International Labor Organization announced the rise in real wages globally by 2.7% in 2024, some countries such as France, South Africa and Spain have witnessed almost complete stagnation in wage growth (0.6%), amid an escalating high cost of living.
According to the report, the disparity in the distribution of income is still high, especially in low -income countries, where the richest 10% get an income equivalent to 3.4 times the income of 40%.
