المملكة: More than 35 million passengers used trains within 3 months

The trains transport sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia achieved an exceptional number during the first quarter of 2025 AD, with more than 35 million passengers who transported using trains, according to what the General Authority for Transport announced today.
The “Transport Authority” explained that the rail transport sector between cities witnessed a remarkable growth after it recorded more than 3.4 million passengers who transported through the trains between the cities during the first quarter of 2025 AD; This reflects the great and increasing demand during the past few months.

Track mobility

At the level of trains inside the cities, the statistics published by the General Transport Authority showed the registration of more than 32.3 million passengers who transported using trains inside the cities, as the Riyadh train occupied the top of the list of the highest trains in the number of passengers by more than 25 million passengers.
While the automatic carrier at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah recorded more than 6 million passengers, while the number of passengers of the automated carrier at Princess Noura Bint Abdul Rahman in Riyadh reached more than 900 thousand passengers.

With regard to the transportation of goods and minerals, the General Authority for Transport clarified that more than 3.8 million tons and more than 239 thousand containers shipped through the railways; This reflects the vital role of trains in supporting the Saudi economy and contributing to strengthening supply chains, especially in the sectors of industry and mining, as part of its contribution to achieving the goals of the national strategy for transport and logistical services.
The movement of trains contributes to facilitating passengers and goods, and providing safe and appropriate means of transportation; Which in turn contributes to reducing carbon emissions.
