UNIFIL: The continued Israeli military activities and the discovery of weapons hideouts in southern Lebanon

The mission reported that two Israeli air strikes occurred and four shells were fired in southern Lebanon yesterday, and confirmed that it discovered last week hideouts in two locations in the eastern sector of its operating area, which included platforms for firing missiles, three underground tunnels, in addition to anti -tank missiles and explosive devices.

UN spokesman, Stephen Dujarric, stated that since the endowment of hostilities, UNIFIL has found 251 weapons and ammunition hideouts, “All of them were reported to the Lebanese army based on our mandate.” Adding that some of these hideouts were destroyed early this week.

Despite the continued presence of the Israeli army and its military activities in the area of ​​operations, Mr. Dujarik said that UNIFIL peacekeepers helped dozens of farmers reach their lands and agricultural property near the blue line separating Lebanon and Israel, including about 20 farmers today, Thursday, in the border village of Marouh. He pointed out that this humanitarian effort has become possible thanks to the coordination of UNIFIL with the Lebanese and Israeli armies.

The United Nations spokesman also told the journalists that the mission donated medical supplies, including personal protection equipment and other basic drugs, for Marjayoun General Hospital as part of its support for local communities.

He added that UNIFIL also facilitated more than 90 humanitarian missions to its operations area since November, and stressed that such tasks “Essential to rebuild life” In southern Lebanon.
