Two matches in "Golden square" Starring Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Wathba " 2026"
Abu Dhabi, March 14 / WAM / The “Golden Square” stage of the football competition, within the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan Ramadan Championship – Al Wathba “2026”, will begin tomorrow with two matches between the teams of the Archive and the National Library and Bolivia, while the second brings together the teams of the Khalifa Foundation and Salisbury, to reach the final scheduled for next Tuesday.
The tournament will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Office, at the headquarters of the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, and will continue until March 17, with the participation of more than 5,000 male and female athletes in 16 competitions, with a total prize pool of 10 million dirhams.
The qualification of the four teams came after strong public confrontations yesterday evening, which witnessed the victory of the Archive and National Library team over the Baynouna team 5-4 on penalty kicks, after they were tied in regular and extra time 2-2, while the Bolivia team beat Al-Raqi 3-1, the Salisbury team beat Abeka 2-1, and the Khalifa Foundation team beat Aegis 8-2.
Muhammad Al-Kathiri, coach of the National Archives and Library team, confirmed the success of the tournament, both artistically and publicly, in a special Ramadan atmosphere, with a large audience in attendance, noting that the participating teams showed advanced technical levels, with a common desire to remain within the competition circle until the final stage of the tournament.
On the other hand, the volleyball competitions witnessed the completion of the semi-final round, which is also scheduled to be held tomorrow, with a meeting between the teams of Manama, Emirates Stars, MIH and Emirates 2.
The quarter-final matches resulted in the Manama team defeating Al Friends 2-1, Emirates Stars defeating Hafeet Men 2-1, MIH defeating MVP 2-0, and Emirates 2 defeating the National Olympic Committee Academy 2-1.
Muay Thai competitions also continued with a large presence in the stands from parents and fans, amid strong competition to win gold medals and advanced positions, leading to professional kickboxing fights over the course of two days tomorrow, Sunday and the day after tomorrow, Monday.
