Various heritage activities at the Dalma Historical Race Festival

Al -Dhafra on May 23 / WAM / The historic Dalma Race Festival, today, witnessed a number of heritage and sports competitions, aimed at reviving the maritime heritage and preserving the national identity.
The festival will organize the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, during Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays each week, from May 16 to June 1, on Dalma Island, in the Al Dhafra area of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Heritage experts are keen, within the goals of the festival, to transfer their experiences to various generations of children and youth of both sexes, through the Emirati heritage paintings that decorate the pillars of the festival, the most prominent of which is the heritage village.
The heritage village highlights the historical role of Emirati women in the economic aspect of the family, and its inherited skills and craftsmanship are highlighted in making various natural materials available in the Emirati environment along with the sewing of the traditional women’s garment, the till industry, the sido and various exhibitions of fishing and diving tools, and models of fishing boats and various heritage holders.
The activities of the festival continue, during the day, with a number of heritage and modern marine events and competitions, as well as various sports and popular competitions, the most prominent of which are the preliminary competitions for the Dalma Racing for Heritage Boats 40 feet, in addition to the Al -Badel and Baymother championships for women.
Tomorrow, “Saturday” will witness the start of the final half of the heritage rowing race, and the bicycle race for men and women.
