The Khorfakkan Mango Festival returns its fourth edition in June to support farmers and the local economy

Sharjah, May 25 / WAM / The Expo Khorfakkan Center will host during the period from 27 to 29 June next the activities of the Khor Fakkan Festival for Mango, which seeks to enhance the region’s position as a distinct agricultural tourist destination and support the local economy, by empowering farmers and productive families and upgrading the quality of local agricultural products and its sustainable cultivation methods, in addition to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the region and ensuring food security National.
The organizational committee of the festival, which is held with the support and joint organization of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Municipal Council of Khor Fakkan and the municipality of Khor Fakkan, held a coordination meeting in the framework of the continuous preparations for the launch of the fourth edition of the festival headed by Khalil Al -Mansouri, director of government relations in the Sharjah Chamber, and the presence of Mohamed Khalfan Al -Naqbi, member of the municipal council for the city of Khorfakkan, Muhammad Ahmed Al -Darmaki, Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sharjah, Khorfakkan branch, along with a number of prominent local farmers.
The meeting stressed the importance of supporting local production from mangoes and enhancing the participation of farmers in this annual event, which has become a prominent station on the map of agricultural and tourism events in the eastern region.
Khalil Al -Mansouri pointed out the importance of concerted efforts between the various government agencies and farmers to make the event that reflects the local community’s keenness to highlight the quality of the national agricultural product and enhance its position in the local and regional markets, pointing out that the festival aims to shed light on the distinguished agricultural capabilities of the Emirate of Sharjah, in addition to displaying the finest local mango varieties and organizing educational workshops for farmers on the latest sustainable agricultural technologies It contributes to raising the level of production and improving quality to enhance the competitiveness of local mangoes in the markets.
Muhammad Khalfan Al -Naqbi praised the great and essential role that farmers play in supporting the local food security system, stressing that the festival represents an opportunity to promote local mango fruits, and highlights the efforts of the firm farmers in developing and improving agricultural production, and explained that the festival will witness a wide participation of local farmers and agricultural experts as well as organizing competitions to motivate producers to distinguish in their cultivation and benefit from experiences Old farmers besides identifying the latest agricultural technology.
The meeting included discussions between the members of the committee and farmers that focused on more facilities that guarantee their active participation in the festival, and a number of accompanying events that would add a cultural, social and entertainment character to the event to ensure an integrated experience for visitors and families.
It is expected that the Fourth Mango Festival for Mango will witness a wide participation of farmers and the public, amid great support from local authorities to continue its successes as a leading platform to celebrate the local product and enhance domestic tourism in the Emirate of Sharjah.
The third edition of the festival held last year witnessed a wide public presence and effective participation from more than 30 farmers who offered more than 150 types of luxurious local mangoes, as well as a distinguished participation of productive families in addition to the offers of popular teams, fun cultural programs and competitive competitions with valuable prizes.
