Lazarini calls on Israel to stop the “campaign of misinformation” against UNRWA and confirms the absence of evidence

Mr. Lazarini added that he sent a message to the Israeli Foreign Minister in this regard, but he has not received any response yet.

He explained that the Israeli government did not provide any sufficient evidence for UNRWA to support these “very dangerous allegations” against the agency and its employees, nor did its private criminal procedures – as is its responsibility – that also requires providing reliable evidence and following the due legal procedures.

He said: “The minimum requirement is that there is sufficient evidence and follow the due legal procedures. The absence of both after more than a year raises the possibility that these accusations are baseless.”

In his message to the Israeli Foreign Minister, the Commissioner -General launched the concrete steps taken by UNRWA for more than a decade in cooperation with the government of Israel in line with transparency and neutrality.

He urged the State of Israel to renew its continuous cooperation for decades with UNRWA in line with United Nations Charter And other international frameworks. He asked her to put an end “For the unfounded misleading campaign against the agency.”

He stressed that UNRWA, along with other United Nations agencies, is ready to continue the decisive work it does in the field of humanitarian relief, education and health care for Palestinian refugees, adding that Gaza is “An example of this is where the agency has the supplies and structure needed to be widely provided.”

It is noteworthy that the Israeli Knesset had adopted two laws, one of which limits the agency’s work in the occupied Palestinian land, and the other prohibits the Israeli authorities to communicate with UNRAA.

Thousands of trucks are awaiting the entry of Gaza

Speaking to reporters in Geneva via video, UNRWA’s communications director, Juliet Toma, confirmed that no UNRWA supplies have been entered into Gaza “since the Israeli siege began on March 2.”

She said that the agency has more than 3000 trucks loaded with food and medicines lined in Jordan and Egypt “Waiting for the green light to enter – and it carries medications that expire soon.”

A spokesman for the Humanitarian Coordination Office (Ocha) Yans Larkie said that the United Nations had not stopped working in the sector though “From the closure of approximately 12 weeks – with an outlet in which a small amount of aid is allowed.”

Mr. Larkie emphasized that the United Nations will not participate in the Israeli way to deliver aid, describing it as it “Draining from what is already required – which is the reopening of all crossings to Gaza, providing a safe environment inside Gaza, and accelerating the facilitation of permits and final approvals to introduce all emergency supplies directly outside the border.”

The UCA spokesman said that the United Nations is not always able to receive the aid that is lowered in the download area in Gaza so that it can distribute it “Because of the insecure methods determined by the Israeli authorities.”

He added: “The bottom line, again, is that we are talking about a very small amount of aid that arrives at Gaza at the present time. Therefore, we need to open more crossings, and we need all kinds of aid – not that aid that the Israeli side chooses selectively that we are allowed to enter.”

It is noteworthy that, according to the latest spatial geographical evaluation conducted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), less than 5% of the area of agricultural lands in Gaza is still available for agriculture, in light of the specter of famine that is giving up on the Strip.

The organization said that more than 80% of the total area of agricultural land in the Gaza Strip was damaged, and 77.8% became unavailable for farmers.

The latest analysis of the classification of integrated food security stages also showed that almost all Gaza population faces the risk of starvation, including 12% who are already suffering from catastrophic levels of food insecurity, which is the worst possible classification.
