"Sharjah pioneers" It is recorded annual growth by 54.3% in the membership of entrepreneurial projects during 2024

Sharjah, May 27 / WAM / The Sharjah Foundation for the support of entrepreneurial projects “Rawad” of the Economic Development Department in Sharjah revealed the increase in the number of small and medium -sized national projects joining its membership by 54.3% during the year 2024 after 449 new projects operating in various activities and sectors and their sites are spread in several cities in the emirate.
His Excellency Hamad Abdullah Ali Al -Mahmoud, Head of the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah, said that the growth of the results of the data on the projects affiliated with the membership of the Foundation reveals the diversity of the efforts made in serving the entrepreneurial community in the Emirate of Sharjah and continuing to fulfill its role in localizing the business environment in it by providing all facilities and benefits that will establish and develop small and medium enterprises for citizens in supporting the comprehensive and integrated development process for the Emirate of Sharjah and moving in them Advanced and strong steps towards the future and in a way that supports ambitious strategic directions.
Al -Mahmoud affirmed the Foundation’s keenness to expand the package of exemptions and privileges that projects receive through their joining membership and work to increase and ensure the impact of these services in a positive way on the development of projects and mitigation of their financial burdens and facilitate their administrative procedures related to the relevant government agencies.
He stressed that the success of the Foundation in entering into a set of new strategic partnerships and agreements during the past year with the institutions of the government and private sectors during the past year contributes positively to developing the bouquets of these benefits, services and incentive programs and raising the level of projects benefiting from them.
Fatima Al Ali, Director of the Sharjah Foundation for the support of entrepreneurial projects “Rawad”, indicated that the total new projects joined to the Foundation’s membership in 2024 amounted to 449 projects compared to 291 projects joined in 2023, which represents an increase by a difference of 158 projects and a growth rate of 54.3%.
Al -Ali explained that during the past year, the Foundation received 530 requests to join the membership, and 84.7% of them were accepted, pointing out that the membership projects for membership were distributed over 279 projects in the commercial sector, representing 62.1% of the new members, while the professional sector projects came with 161 projects representing 35.9%, while 9 industrial projects representing (2%) joined the list of members.
She added that 57.5% of these projects are owned by male entrepreneurs and of 258 projects. As for business entrepreneurs’ projects, they represented 175 projects representing 39%, while joint projects came with the gender with 16 projects and a rate of 3.5%.
In terms of geographical distribution, she explained that the city of Sharjah acquired the largest number of new members in 2024 by 250 projects (55.7%), while 134 projects came in the eastern region (29.8%), while the central region witnessed 55 membership projects (12.3%) joining the incubator of the virtual pioneers “Path” 10 new projects representing 2.2%of the total number of member projects.
She explained that the food activity came at the forefront of the activities of the member projects with 143 projects (31.8%), after which the women’s sewing activity came with 38 projects (8.5%), then the maintenance and washing of cars and the services associated with them with 27 projects (6%), while the rest of the projects were distributed to a group of other activities and services in addition to other commercial, industrial and professional activities.
She noted that the year 2024 witnessed the renewal and extension of the membership of a new group of projects, where 330 memberships were renewed for the second and third years, so that it is exempted from all government fees, while 135 projects obtained the extension of its membership for the fourth or fifth years so that it gets the exemption from half of the government fees.
