Amna Al -Dahhak: Academics have a pivotal role in providing solutions to the challenges of the agricultural sector

Al Ain, May 29/ WAM/ His Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, confirmed that the UAE Agricultural Exhibition and Agricultural Exhibition currently held at the Emnik Center in Al Ain is a vital platform for exchanging ideas and creating innovative solutions to the challenges facing the agricultural sector.

Her Excellency said in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” that the accompanying conference and exhibition include a number of partners, starting from the federal and local government agencies, through the major private sector companies, up to entrepreneurs who will contribute to the development of this sector by finding innovative solutions to existing challenges and establishing companies to develop practical solutions to existing problems.

She added that the academic sector plays a pivotal role in this trend through universities and research centers participating in the exhibition, which displays research focusing on local agricultural challenges, while students provide promising research projects that carry innovative solutions that are working to convert into commercial projects through emerging companies.

Her Excellency stressed the importance of the participation of farmers and producers, who make up the backbone of the sector, and participate in large numbers (about 100 farmers and producers) in various agricultural specialties, to exchange experiences and display their products.

She noted that the “National Agricultural Center”, which was officially announced during the exhibition, is one of the main initiatives in the “UAE cultivation” program, which will set a road map to achieve the targets for the next five years, such as increasing organically cultivated areas, reducing losses after harvesting, and enhancing agricultural productivity.

She explained that the center will be a link between farmers and the private sector, its basic mission to provide support and solutions to the challenges facing farmers.

He referred to the agreements signed during the conference and the exhibition that were designed to address these challenges directly, through capacity building, providing marketing opportunities, supporting agricultural technology, and promoting agricultural scientific research.
