Abu Dhabi, April 14 / WAM / His Excellency Ghanam Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Emirates Competitiveness Council, confirmed that extending the “NAFES” program until 2040 comes within the framework of a long-term strategic vision that aims to consolidate the sustainability of Emiratisation in the private sector, and keep pace with the rapid transformations in the labor market.

His Excellency said in statements to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that this extension reflects the state’s commitment to enhancing investment in national competencies in the long term, ensuring the building of an integrated system capable of preparing qualified generations capable of competing in the economy of the future, while achieving job and social stability for citizens, noting that the program is continuously subject to study, evaluation and development, ensuring its compatibility with economic and social variables and the needs of the labor market at every stage.

He stressed that the strategic vision of the program in the next phase focuses on the quality and type of Emiratisation, and not just on numbers, in addition to empowering citizens through an integrated path starting from early education to sustainable employment. The program also works to develop effective partnerships with the private sector to prepare national cadres for the jobs of the future, while employing data and artificial intelligence to support decision-making and ensure efficient implementation.

He added that the announcement of the extension of the Nafes program clearly embodies the vision of our wise leadership in consolidating the priority of the Emiratisation file, and its continued keenness to invest in people as the primary driver of national development. In the next phase, the program aims to continue enhancing the attractiveness of the private sector for new graduates, and move to a more advanced phase of qualitative Emiratisation, by focusing on the quality of opportunities and the sustainability of empowerment, and working closely with partners and various segments of society to achieve these goals.

Regarding the success of the program in changing societal culture towards the private sector, His Excellency stressed that the program has significantly enhanced the attractiveness of working in the private sector, as the percentage of new graduates starting their careers there has increased from 15% to 58%. This is due to the program adopting an integrated approach that combines material and moral support, in addition to qualitative qualification, which has enabled young people to build sustainable career paths and contributed to changing societal perceptions towards working in this sector.

He pointed out that the updates made to the “Nafis” program included a qualitative package that reflects the state’s strategic direction towards developing a more comprehensive, flexible and sustainable system, which consolidates the social and economic impact of the program, and enhances the competitiveness of national cadres and their job and family stability, within an integrated national system that keeps pace with economic and social changes and supports the sustainability of Emiratization until the year 2040.

Regarding the extent of the “Nafes” program’s success in achieving its strategic goals, and highlighting the qualitative transformations in the efficiency of the national workforce, His Excellency stressed that the “Nafes” program succeeded in bringing about a fundamental transformation in the labor market, as it has become an integrated national system that enhances the competitiveness of Emirati cadres and enables them to participate effectively in vital sectors. The program also contributed to bringing about a qualitative change in young people’s awareness of their role in the private sector, in addition to building effective partnerships with the government and private sectors, in a way that enhances job and economic stability.

He added that in light of the successes achieved, attracting Emirati cadres has become part of the corporate strategy of companies, while providing clear career paths, and the Emirati citizen has become an active and contributing element in the growth of institutions, while stimulating positive competition through many initiatives, most notably the “Nafes” Award.

The Secretary-General of the Emirates Competitiveness Council explained that the “NAFES” program continues to develop its initiatives and programs in a way that supports the development of future skills and enhances the empowerment of Emirati competencies to lead vital sectors with high efficiency. This comes within the framework of the state’s commitment to sustainable Emiratization, enhancing partnership with the private sector, and developing flexible policies that keep pace with labor market changes.

His Excellency stressed that the program continues its efforts to enhance the participation of national competencies in the private sector, raise their productivity, and build a flexible and competitive labor market that supports sustainable economic growth. The program also contributes to supporting the development of competitive national competencies and enhancing human development goals, which contributes to strengthening the UAE’s position among the top 10 countries in the world in the Human Development Index.
