Bangkok on June 1 / WAM / Thai officials confirmed that the relations between Thailand and the UAE are proceeding with a confident pace towards a prosperous economic future, based on a strategic partnership that resulted in a strong trade exchange, and promising cooperation in the areas of innovation, digitization and food security.
This came during their participation in the “Practicing Business with Thailand” forum, which was organized by Dubai Chambers as part of its commercial mission to Bangkok between 28 and 30 May, where they confirmed that direct investment flows from the UAE to Thailand witnessed steady altitudes over the past few years, and went to vital and innovative sectors, with expectations of the growth of the momentum of these investments by paying the steps that are taken by various actors in the two countries, not Especially the last Dubai Chambers’ step led by the commercial mission and the opening of the representative office, which was described as the new bridge that opens with Thailand.
During the forum, Dr. Bouj Araamathannet, President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Thai Commerce Council, said during the forum: At a time when the two countries celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of diplomatic relations, the UAE has become a major commercial partner for Thailand in the Middle East.
He pointed out that the Thai Chamber of Commerce is committed to pushing Thai companies towards global markets, pointing out that the policy of “opening the growth paths” launched by Thailand this year focuses on the readiness of future transformation, enhancing confidence in the business environment, intensifying investments in global supply chains, in addition to integrating modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, robots, and Internet of things, and developing talents related to sustainability.
For his part, Chuttenonon Gongskde, Secretary of the Thai Foreign Minister, described the commercial mission to Bangkok as not just a commercial mission, but to celebrate a fifty -year -old partner between the two countries.
He said: The opening of the Dubai World Chamber office in Bangkok, which is the third in the Association of Southeast Asian countries “ASEAN”, reflects our joint commitment to a dynamic economic future.
He pointed out that the past two years witnessed the entry of 19 investment projects from the Emirates to Thailand with a value of more than $ 90 million, including a data center for the “Damac” group and solar energy projects, considering these investments strategic pillars for a joint future.
He stressed the commitment of Thailand to sustainable growth through the model of the biological, circular and green economy, which provides extensive opportunities for Emirati investment in areas such as smart agriculture, green manufacturing, biomedics, medical innovation, and digital solutions.
For his part, Bornefit Silown, Deputy Director General of International Trade Promotion Department at the Thai Ministry of Trade, confirmed that the commercial mission from Dubai comes in an ideal time, coinciding with the Tiflex exhibition, “one of the largest food exhibitions in the world.
He praised the opening of the representative office by the Dubai World Chamber in Bangkok, describing it as a vital bridge between the business community in the two countries, stressing the support of the Thai Ministry of Trade for this important step. For its part, Tanita Serisop, a first adviser to investment in the Thai Investment Council, indicated that Thailand constitutes a strategic gate to the Asia and Southeast Asian markets, thanks to the free trade agreements that link it with markets of more than 2.3 billion consumers, or about 30% of the world’s population.
She explained that Thailand has strong supply chains in the foodstuffs, agriculture, cars, electronics, and chemicals, and provides a flexible business environment and great openness to investors. She talked about the investment projects that were presented through the Thai Investment Promotion Authority, pointing out that the past five years have witnessed the entry of 25 projects from the UAE, with a total value of 125 million dirhams.
The high pace of Emirati investments in Thailand, especially in 2024, which alone recorded 11 investment projects through the authority, which is the highest number during the five years.
