Sharjah Chamber confirms its support for the organization of commercial missions for Ethiopia to enhance the expansion of the African continent

Sharjah, on June 12 / WAM / Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry affirmed its keenness to support the organization of commercial missions to the Republic of Ethiopia, with the aim of enhancing economic cooperation between the business community and the development of trade and investment relations between the two countries, as part of the Chamber’s efforts to expand its trademarks in the African continent.

This came during the meeting held by His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al -Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry today at the Chamber’s headquarters, with His Excellency Adelaoa Kibidi Irina, the Consul General of the Democratic Federal Republic of Ethiopia in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, in the presence of a number of members of the Sharjah Chamber’s Board of Directors, Abdel Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of the Communication and Business Sector, and a number of officials from both sides.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance the economic partnership between Sharjah and Ethiopia, where the two sides stressed the importance of opening new horizons for investment and trade exchange between the two sides, especially in the sectors of agriculture, manufacturing industries, technology, and infrastructure, and the importance of joint cooperation between the two sides was discussed in organizing economic activities such as exhibitions and conferences that bring together business community to the two sides, with the aim of enhancing the exchange of experiences and knowledge and supporting the growth of joint investments, Especially in light of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Sharjah Chamber and the Ethiopian Investment Authority, which constitutes a strategic framework to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.

His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais praised the strength of economic relations between the UAE and the Republic of Ethiopia, which is witnessing a remarkable development, as the volume of non -oil trade exchange between the UAE and Ethiopia increased during the past years, by by exceeding 180%, to exceed the value of non -oil bilateral trade, 34 billion dirhams between 2013 and 2022, indicating that these positive results constitute a motivation towards building more joint work at the economic and commercial levels Among the two friendly countries to achieve the best benefit from the various investment opportunities on both sides.

His Excellency Al Owais stressed the Sharjah Chamber’s keenness to enhance economic partnerships with East African countries, noting that the African continent, especially Ethiopia, has promising capabilities and great investment ingredients in many vital sectors, which makes it an ideal destination for the business community and investors from the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE in general, pointing out that the Sharjah Chamber will continue to work to create a stimulating environment to encourage mutual investment, By working to provide support for organizing commercial missions and holding economic events and forums that contribute to linking business community in both countries, in order to support sustainable growth and create long -term trade partnerships.

For his part, His Excellency Adelaoa Kibidi Irina expressed his appreciation to the Sharjah Chamber of its initiatives to enhance economic relations between the two sides, and its commitment to consolidating the bonds of cooperation between the business community in Sharjah and its counterparts in Ethiopia, stressing that his country attaches special importance to developing strategic partnerships with the UAE, especially the Emirate of Sharjah, in light of the strong historical relations and the common vision towards achieving sustainable economic development that belongs Benefiting to the peoples of the two countries, noting that Ethiopia opens its doors for foreign investment and provides promising opportunities in many vital sectors, such as agriculture, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure.
