Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi witnesses the launch of the Khalid bin Sultan City project

Sharjah, on June 19 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, at the headquarters of the environment group, witnessed the launching ceremony of the Khalid Bin Sultan City project, which is supervised and developed by the “Environment” group, in the framework of supporting the urban development process witnessed by the emirate.

The ceremony started with a film, entitled “The New Age of the Environment”, which dealt with the emergence of a group of environment, its development and its transfer from a small waste management company until it became a leading global institution that explores how to build a better future for all, and provides its services in the field of sustainability, energy, technology, health care and real estate development.

Khaled Al -Harimel, CEO and Vice -Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Environment” group, delivered a speech in which he explained that “Khalid bin Sultan City” is a pivotal station for the group in the field of real estate development, and a pioneering project that embodies its vision to redraw the features of urban life.

He described the project as an expansion of the “environment” march of building an integrated system of sustainable solutions in the sectors of the environment, energy, technology, and health care, stressing that the city comes as an extension of the directions of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, whose wise leadership established the foundations of sustainability and urban planning in the Emirate of Sharjah.

His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and the attendees witnessed a film for the city of Khalid bin Sultan, which embodies the vision of a “environment” in the development of smart cities centered on sustainability and human communication, and inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, one of the pioneers in the field of urban design and planning, which had a clear imprint in the urban identity of the Emirate of Sharjah.

For her part, Eng. Nada Tarim, CEO – Real Estate Development in the “Environment” a speech in which she affirmed that the group seeks, through “Khaled bin Sultan City”, to re -visualize the urban lifestyle, and embodies its vision to create smart and sustainable cities that put the human being at the core of its priorities, through the integration of smart infrastructure with the architectural design that celebrates identity.

Tarim revealed that Zaha Hadid Architecture is assigned to design the main plan, which translates the group’s vision around the project and turns it into designs that combine beauty and innovation, and to provide an inspiring environment, rich in experiments, which enhances the quality of life.

The ceremony concluded with a review of film that dealt with the details of the city of Khalid bin Sultan, which will extend over an area of ​​1.5 km, and will include 1500 housing units available for free ownership, commercial units and spaces dedicated to culture and entertainment, along with the main headquarters of “Environment” and who holds a certificate of leadership in energy and environmental design “LeED” in the platinum category.

After the ceremony, His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah toured the platforms that review the details of the Khalid bin Sultan City project, and learn about the most prominent of the city, which comes under the directives and vision of Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Environment”, by achieving a zero -waste system, and based on four main elements: sustainability, technology, culture, and human communication.

His Highness listened to an explanation about the city and its smart infrastructure that takes into account the standards of zero neutrality, regulations based on renewable energy, and water recycling installations, as well as sustainable transport solutions that support modern lifestyles, and smart technologies also contribute to enhancing infrastructure dependent on artificial intelligence, and providing digital services, which ensures an integrated and smooth urban experience.

His Highness got acquainted with the general plan of the city and its role in establishing neighborhoods that are easy to move on foot, facilities that support a healthy lifestyle, and a vital societal environment that inspires interaction, belonging and joint growth, where “Khalid bin Sultan City” was planned to include seven distinct residential neighborhoods, aimed at building a coherent society centered around the human being, each of which revolves around a central square designed as a social center and an area of ​​well -being Within a walking distance of no more than five minutes, to include children’s centers and health clinics, in addition to sports facilities and external cafes.

A green oasis extends in the heart of the project with a length of 2 km, which is the form of the natural spine of the city, and will include running paths, cycling, gardens, and shaded squares.

The Khalid bin Sultan City project is based on the establishment of available housing units for free ownership, including villas, “Town House” houses, and apartments, which provides a variety of carefully designed living options, which combine sustainability, comfort, and modern facilities.

At the end of the tour, His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah received a memorial shield bearing the design of the city of Khaled bin Sultan, in appreciation and gratitude from the “Environment” group to honor His Highness the ceremony.

The launch ceremony was attended by His Highness the Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Dr. Salem bin Abdul Rahman Al Qasimi, Head of the Ruler’s Office, Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of the Government Relations Department, Sheikh Saud bin Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah Digital Department, Sheikha Hind Bint Majid Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Design Center, and a number of officials.
