Sudan – UN expert calls for the protection of future generations from the horrors of sexual violence

He added: “Survivors’ testimonies of sexual violence shed light on the shocking brutality and patterns spread to these horrific acts. The United Nations Commission for Human Rights has documented accounts of rape cases committed in front of family members, kidnappings and the subsequent sexual violence, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, and attacks on activists, including those who trust sexual violence associated With conflicts.

The UN expert – appointed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights – said that sexual violence often falls alongside other grave violations and transgressions, including killing, torture and arbitrary detention. He pointed out that with the continued exacerbation of the conflict this year, reports have increased on the use of sexual violence, “Including a tribal basis, as a tool for intimidation, revenge and intimidation by the parties to the conflict, militias and their groups.”

He said that sexual violence in the context of the war in Sudan represents a serious state of human rights and a humanitarian crisis at the same time, “With permanent damage that extends to families and children born from rape and entire generations, while the perpetrators remain largely without punishment.”

He strongly condemned the use of sexual violence “War weapon” In Sudan, he stressed the need to protect women, girls, men and boys from it. He also stressed the need to mobilize national and international justice mechanisms to end impunity for these heinous crimes.

Mr. Nuweir called on all parties and the international community to move immediately and hold the perpetrators accountable regardless of their affiliations, and to ensure that the survivors get medical care, And protecting future generations from such horrors. He added: “No matter how long, this generation and the generation of justice should not be forbidden.”
