Chinese foreign trade grows 22.9% in five months

On June 20 / WAM / The Sinjiang Self -Governing Region in northwestern China recorded a growth in its foreign trade by 22.9% during the first five months of 2025, to reach 227.67 billion yuan (about 31.73 billion US dollars), according to official data issued by the Oromache Customs.
The China Media Group stated that the rate of trade growth in Xinjiang exceeded the average national growth by more than 20 degrees Celsius during the same period, and the total volume of its foreign trade exceeded what was achieved in the first half of last year, while the foreign region trade recorded only about 61.81 billion yuan, with an annual increase of 30.8%.
This performance comes in light of the continuous progress in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, as Xinjiang continues to strengthen its position as an economic passage linking Asia and Europe, and a main gate for China’s openness in its western regions.
According to the government work report in the region, Xinjiang set a target for GDP growth during 2025 by 6%, after the value of the GDP for the past year exceeded the 2 trillion yuan barrier.
The report indicated that the priorities of the region during the current year include promoting high quality development and expanding economic openness.
