The UAE participates in the sixth Arab Forum for Competition in Iraq

Baghdad, June 24 / WAM / The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, participated in the work of the sixth Arab Forum for Competition, which was hosted by the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, under the slogan “enforcing competition laws in the Arab region.”
The participation aimed to enhance cooperation with the parties concerned with competition in the Arab countries, and review the most prominent developments in the Arab markets, especially with regard to integration and acquisition operations, and transit monopolistic practices, and discuss the role of competition in supporting innovation and attracting foreign investment.
The forum focused on the importance of building institutions concerned with competition and improving the capabilities of investigation in violations in accordance with international best practices, and guarantees a series of dialogue sessions that discussed procedures for enforcing competition laws, the role of technology in reshaping markets, and coordination between Arab competition agencies, as well as highlighting the most prominent successful experiences in member states.
Muhammad Sultan Janahi, Director of Competition Department at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in a speech during the forum, reviewed the state’s experience to develop an integrated legislative system to protect competition, in line with the best practices used globally, enabling sound commercial practices, and enhancing productive efficiency in various economic sectors, in a way that establishes the competitiveness of the business environment in the country at the regional and global levels, and enhances its attractiveness to companies and business owners of all Throughout the world.
